Riverdale, Illinois, located 23 miles south of
downtown Chicago, offers a small town atmosphere with all the benefits of a
metropolitan area. Riverdale has instituted a downtown redevelopment plan, which
included the rehabilitation of a commercial building on 144th Street as Village
Hall. Riverdale's current population as of the 2000 Census is 15,055.
Riverdale
is served by two park districts which offer programs ranging from arts and
crafts to athletics. Parks, basketball courts and nearby forest preserves and
county golf course and marina provide children and adults with many places to relax and
have fun.

include raised ranches, bungalows, Georgians, and Cape Cods. Prices for
single-family homes ranged from $70,000 to $140,000, with an average of $86,000 in
2003. Townhouses in the older section of Riverdale sell from $45,000.
SCHOOLS: Elementary
students attend District 133 or 148. High school students attend Thornton
Township High School in District 205. Teachers at Thornton average 20.2 years of
experience. The 1998 average ACT composite score was 17.7.
TRANSPORTATION: The
Dan Ryan (I-94), Tri-State Tollway (I-294), and I-57 are minutes away. It is a
35-minute drive to the Loop. Metra train service is available from our two (Ivanhoe
or
Riverdale) stations. PACE bus service runs along Halsted and Indiana
Avenues. CTA trains operate from the station at 95th Street. The
non-express ride into the Loop is 30 to 45 minutes. Midway Airport and O'Hare
are 35- and 50-minute drives, respectively.
